Spotlight Selection 2010 / Director: Todd Solondz

Life During Wartime

Neuroses, loneliness, sexual longing plus a side order of child abuse; it can only be a Todd Solondz movie, with the leftfield director delivering a semi-sequel to his break-out hit, Happiness. Once again, here's a film that'll make you laugh out loud -- and then make you want to wash your hands.

– David Edwards, Mirror.co.uk

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco: With a title from Talking Heads, Life During Wartime is obsessive filmmaker Todd Solondz's creepy/ beautiful, engrossing/repellent follow-up to his 1998 dystopian family epic Happiness. In fact, the same dystopian family from Happiness is back, played by a new cast.
