The Unloved
Morton’s outstanding directorial debut – an ethereally beautiful, achingly sad, and painfully honest look at the life of an abused eleven-year-old girl, who has recently been taken into care – would suggest that the actress’s time spent in front of the camera may have been merely an apprenticeship, served in order to bring us this wonderful, sensitive film-maker with a delicate touch to rival Terence Davies – wonderful.

I was more inspired by European filmmaking, I like the work of Aki Kaurismäki and Visconti – very slow and beautiful films. I love Loach's and Leigh's work but it has a very different energy. The lead actress Molly Windsor and the other young actors in the film give such deep and affecting performances.
