Psihoyos Says Thank You to The Cove Audience |

The Cove was recieved with a grand enthusiasm at Love & Anarchy. The packed Bio Rex greeted the film and the director Louie Psihoyos with a standing applause. Director Psihoyos travelled from Helsinki to Paris on Monday 21st Sep to the Paris premiere of The Cove. Luc Besson introduced the film with Psihoyos at Paris.

Love & Anarchy is doing a survey this year which aims to find out what kind of audience attends the festival and how the marketing and informing about the festival works from the audiences point of view. The survey is also trying to find out what the audience from the Great Helsinki area has to say about the programme of the movie theatres in Helsinki. Also in Tampere: Nordic Council Film Prize 2009, Manhattan Short 2009 and Arthouse Cinema at Niagara, from 25th Sep to 4th Oct
Love & Anarchy -festival at Tampere is already a tradition. Screenings have been organized as long as the Original festival has existed and the year 2009 is no exception. In addition to L&A festival films the five nominees of the Nordic Council Film Prize are also screened in Tampere. The special thing this year is the premiere of Skeleton Crew, a film made by Tampere's very own filmmakers. |

L&A is proud to present for the first time in the Western countries John Woo's historical spectacle Red Cliff in its original, long form. The original version, which consists of two films: Red Cliff I and Red Cliff II takes almost five hours all together. Until now in the Western countries it has been possible to see only the shortened DVD version which compresses two films into one. Tickets to Red Cliff I and Red Cliff II are sold separately. The audience has a chance to decide, weather to watch the spectacle all at once or on two separate days. |

The Cove Helps Dolphins Get Freedom |

As a consequence to the public reaction of the film The Cove dolphins have been freed. The director of the film, Louie Psihoyos, reveals in his documentary the slaughter of dolphins that goes on in Taiji. The documentary also focuses on the effects of eating dolphin meat, which is sometimes mislabeled also as whale meat. Dolphin meat contains mercury. The film has been awarded in several occasions, for example at the Sundance Film Festival with the Best Documentary Audience Award. It has also created a lot of conversation all around the world. |

Journalist Mark Boal has been awarded at the 66th Venice Film Festival the Gucci Group award. Boal was awarded for his screenpaly of The Hurt Locker which is based on his own experiences. The film is directed by Kathryn Bigelow and it is a part of L&A festival programme. |

The Film "9" Screening Date Changed |

The screening day of Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic animation 9 has been changed. Previously announced screening on Sunday 27th Sep at 4.30pm at Bio Rex is now cancelled. New screening day is Thursday 24th Sep at 6.30pm. The film will be screened in the filmtheatre Bristol (Mikonkatu 8).
If you have a ticket to the cancelled screening on Sunday, you can change your ticket at the cashier of Bio Rex. If you have booked a ticket to Sunday's screening, your booking has expired due to the cancellation. But there is lots of room to the new screening on Thursday, and you can do new reservations or buy tickets to the screening from any Finnkino theatre or online www.finnkino.fi The festival apologizes for the inconvenience. |

The presales of single tickets (á 7 euros) starts Wednesday 9th of September 2009. You can buy the tickets to Kinopalatsi and Maxim straight from the theatres or online, www.finnkino.fi. Tickets to the screenings of Bio Rex, Kino Engel, Andorra and Dubrovnik are presold at Bio Rex and www.hiff.fi
The online store at this location, www.hiff.fi, opens at 10 am. At that point there will be a button on each of the films pages. You can either book the tickets or buy them using the different buttons. You can only pay using Finnish online banks. If you wish to use your festival pass, you can book the film screenings you want and exchange your festival pass to your bookings later on at any festival theatre. |

The festival ticket pre-sale starts tomorrow, 9th of Sept 2009 at 10am. You can buy tickets to the screenings of Maxim and Kinopalatsi from Finnkino theatres and from www.finnkino.fi. To the screenings at Bio Rex, Kino Engel, Andorra and Dubrovnik you can buy tickets starting tomorrow from Bio Rex or www.hiff.fi
