The Hurt Locker's Writer Awarded in Venice

Journalist Mark Boal has been awarded at the 66th Venice Film Festival the Gucci Group award. Boal was awarded for his screenpaly of The Hurt Locker which is based on his own experiences. The film is directed by Kathryn Bigelow and it is a part of L&A festival programme.

It was the fourth time a Gucci-award has been given. The jury included director Zoe Cassavetes, actress Patricia Clarkson, photographer Mario Testino, editor Ingrid Sischy and the Venice festival AD Mario Mueller. The award is given to an artist who has made a continuous effort to a certain film during the last 18 months. Other nominees were Shirin Neshat with Women Without Men, Pipilotti Rist with Pepperminta and Yann Arthus with Bertrand's Home.
