The first guests of the festival have been announced. Among the guests is the legendary film producer Christine Vachon (pictured). Vachon is remembered from producing such films as Happiness (HIFF 1999) and Kids (HIFF 1996). Vachon will be a guest both to the Festival and to the Faculty of Cinematic Arts at the Aalto University. She will also be presenting her new film Cairo Time. The strong war documentary Armadillo, which has broken box office records in its homecountry Denmark, is one of the films at the festival which take a critical look at war. The director Janus Metz will be visiting the festival presenting Armadillo, his first feature film, in the Danish Treats category. The closing film of this year's festival will be the romantic and existential chaos theory fantasy Mr. Nobody. The director Jaco Van Dormael, whose film has been already compared to the work of auteurs such as Kubrick and Lynch, is one of the festival's guests of honor. More information about guests as soon as the visits are confirmed. |
