The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye
In tackling Gen's entire life story, from bullied schoolchild to Throbbing Gristle-era ”wrecker of civilization” to Psychic TV guru to lovestruck pandrogyne to widower, (...) as an immersion in Genesis's life and art, the film makes for an alternately hilarious and moving 72 minutes.
(...) The film lifts itself decisively out of VH1 territory when Gen narrates his (...) partnership with Lady Jaye from love at first sight in the basement of a New York dominatrix to a seven year process of surgical alterations and artistic collaborations designed to fuse the two into a 'pandrogyne', an emblem in flesh of their passionate synthesis.
[Losier's] work ignores documentary standards of 'objectivity' and chooses instead to be a beautifully partisan, bittersweet record of bohemian pleasure and loss.

Scenes from the Suburbs

“I wish I could remember every little moment. But I can’t. Why do I only remember the moments that I do. I wonder what happens to the others.”
A group of suburban youths. Back then, in the summer, so long ago. They couldn’t leave town because outside the country was at war and the military controlled life and all gateways. The teenagers wander aimlessly about town. Winter is a long way off. And love and longing and friendship still mean – everything.
