Devil's Lungs - pirun palkeet
Devil's Lungs is a film Odyssey that follows some of the sonic adventures of one of the world´s most exciting and fearless artists – Finland´s Kimmo Pohjonen. His musical history goes back more than twenty years in rock, folk, avant-garde, improvisation, classical, dance and theater music projects. Pohjonen´s work is diverse and compelling in its creative exploration of undiscovered soundscapes. Radical, poetic and wild, all the sounds originate from Pohjonen´s accordion and his own powerful voice.
The film dives into the soul of an accordion and it´s player by following the artists projects closely with him. Kimmo Pohjonen opens up his invention of an electronic accordion and its history and clarifies us how an accordion´s soul is its bellow and the bellow is the player´s personality. Performances with bellows, animals, machines and wrestlers from Jimi Hendrix to Pohjonen´s own composition with the world famous Kronos Quartet.
Devil's Lungs is a film about the musical energy that connects Pohjonen´s native ice-fields to a rich musical mosaic.
